Hype Check: Avatar

As of now it is the second highest grossing movie of all time, bested only by James Cameron’s other movie, Titanic! In addition to being the biggest movie of the decade, it is also one of the most hyped movies of the year. Lets perform a “hype check.”

The most impressive aspect of Avatar is the computer animation which they have been working on for at least six years! In this respect Avatar is breathtaking. It takes you on an adventure of a never before seen land, and it is all very beautiful.

Besides the beautiful graphics and visual effects of the movie there is the other aspect that every movie has, the story. Avatar’s story was original in some cases but really was more like a compilation of lots of different cliche story lines. When put together the story was enjoyable and interesting, but far from revolutionary. The writing and story line itself was the weakest aspect of Avatar.

In conclusion, I would give Avatar a 4 out of 5 and suggest for people to go see it if they haven’t, not because it is the best movie I have ever seen, because its not, but because it is an impressive feat in computer animation and is beautiful. I will purchase Avatar on Blu-Ray disc when it is realeased for its beauty, not its story. It has been over-hyped as the best movie ever, it is not, but it is enjoyable.

Best of CES 2010: Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Hybrid

CES is currently in full swing in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the coverage of the show is abundant. If your looking for some great coverage look to TWiT, CNET, and Engadget for everything you need!

This is one of the most interesting items coming out of CES, its called the Lenovo Ideapad U1 Hybrid. As you can see in the picture above the monitor of this Windows 7 based laptop removes and automatically switches to a Linux-based operating system as a slate running a Snapdragon CPU! Coming in 2H 2010 at a price point of around a $1000, I just wish it would be released sooner.

Check out Revision3 CEO Jim Louderback’s First Look at the U1 Hybrid:
