CES is currently in full swing in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the coverage of the show is abundant. If your looking for some great coverage look to TWiT, CNET, and Engadget for everything you need!
This is one of the most interesting items coming out of CES, its called the Lenovo Ideapad U1 Hybrid. As you can see in the picture above the monitor of this Windows 7 based laptop removes and automatically switches to a Linux-based operating system as a slate running a Snapdragon CPU! Coming in 2H 2010 at a price point of around a $1000, I just wish it would be released sooner.
Check out Revision3 CEO Jim Louderback’s First Look at the U1 Hybrid:

So, Yeah. Sprint just blew every other carrier out of the water. Forget MyCircle and Fav5. How does unlimited to any Cell Phone in the US regardless of the carrier sound? Any customer on an Everything Data Plan will get Mobile to Any added to their plan at the beginning of there next billing period. Read All about it on Engadget Mobile:
We can’t say we expected Sprint to actually surprise anyone with its “game changing” announcement tomorrow, and right on schedule, the details have come leaking out. Apparently Sprint’s $70 rate plan going unlimited, meaning seven Hamiltons will get you endless mobile-to-mobile calling (to any network, not just Sprint), texts, data, and MMS — stuff you could already get on the Simply Unlimited plan, but the big change at this price point is the unlimited mobile-to-mobile voice, up from 450 minutes in the current plan. Yeah, it’s a good deal, but is it a revolutionary deal? We’d say that all depends on whether or not it comes with a free Palm Pixi.
Update: The Any Mobile, Anytime plan is now official.
So since the Pre is on an Everything Data Plan, my unlimited Mobile to Any will go into effect at the start of my next billing period, September 27th. I am one happy Sprint Customer!

So I purchased a brand new Palm Pre from Best Buy on July 19th! I absolutely loved it! Until Monday (8/3/09), I simply pressed the center button, and all of a sudden the touch screen stopped working! I then noticed 10-12 internal cracks on the LCD originating from the center button! I was so mad, a 15 day old phone was completely broken!
My first step was going online to check forums and other places to see if anyone else had the same problem. I found that lots of people had the same problem, this was only a little bit of a relief. My first call was to Sprint, they told me to go to the repair center. I went and they told me it would cost me $120, I said, “Hell, No”. So I left, when I returned home I called Sprint again and they said that they had heard of the problem, but had no power to replace it and to contact Palm.

All I Can Say is…..Alright! Here is the post from PreInsiders:
It has been rumored since shortly after it’s unveiling at CES that the Palm Pre will indeed receive Flash Player support on it’s browser. However, up until now we never had any idea of just when it would be available. Lucky for us, Adobe released a statement earlier this week saying that it’s mobile Flash Player 10 will be released this October. Among the supported devices is the Palm Pre, and omitted from the very same list is the iPhone (so gloat all you want, Pre users). However, the release will only be distributed to beta testers and developers working directly with Palm, so regular Pre users probably won’t see a flash browser on their Pre until late 2009 or 2010. While the wait is long, it will yield great benefits for web-based applications as well as native run ones as developers will have access to much more than static webpages.

Sure, I’m a few days late on this one. What can I say? I’ve been busy. Sprint released this advertisement putting the Pre in direct competition with the iPhone. You know with the Pre’s ability to multitask, and save you a truckload of cash. I like this ad for the most part and was glad to see it not only on the net, but also a full page in the USA Today. Sprint needs to get more aggressive like this because they have a great product that really can compete.

The Blackberry Tour For Verizon and Sprint
Most tech blogs are now reporting that both Sprint and Verizon will be releasing the Blackberry Tour smartphone on July 12th for $199 on contract. The major uniqueness of the Tour is its worldwide GSM global roaming capabilities. You can pre-order the Verizon version but the Sprint version is not yet up on their site. Looks nice…..but I’m still in the mood for a Pre.

So…..You want to argue against the Palm Pre. I didn’t think so! Oh and lack of Voice Commands and Video Recording can, and probably will, be fixed in the future. T-minus about a week and I will have one! Thanks to Dvorak.org/blog for the picture. Oh and they forgot about pointing out that it is on Sprint, not ATT, that is worth it alone.

This makes Facebook more user friendly and easier to use and find your friends. Facebook will offer these URLs on a first-come, first-serve basis so you better get ready to stay home on Friday! Oh, and if anyone tries to steal “facebook.com/jaredweseman” I will punch you in the Kidney!

WWDC 09 was held yesterday. Apple introdued the new iPhone 3G s, a really lackluster upgrade that gave Palm a huge advantage! Here is a story from precentral.net:
As expected, Apple unveiled a new iPhone (the iPhone 3G S) during the WWDC keynote. They also dropped the price of the current iPhone 3G to $99. The reaction around the Web has been interesting.CrunchGear wrote about the cost of upgrading:
“Better read the fine print, friends. Apple said today that the iPhone 3G S costs $199 (16GB) and $299 (32GB). But that’s the price only for new AT&T customers. The price if you’re already an AT&T customer and/or are upgrading from an iPhone 3G? Try $699 (32GB), $599 (16GB), and $499 (8GB). To quote Peter Ha: “HOLY SH@#.”
And Gizmodo posted about that “fine print” in a piece titled “What the Hell Is This Gibberish?“
So, Palm and Sprint dodged a bullet and is still better! The only change I could see coming from Palm and Sprint would maybe be a price drop due to the reduced storage. I also could see video recording, voice control, and larger storage capacities in the future. How ever it plays out, I am still buying a Pre, not an iPhone.
Palm Sprint WIN!
Apple ATT FAIL!
